Hi Crafty Friends! If you are looking for an easy beginner friendly mixed media card with a modern look, you have to see this one! I used some Vicki Boutin texture pastes and I am obsessed with the shine these!

I started by trimming down some foundations paper for my card panels. My finished cards today are 5×7 and 8.5×3.5″ slimline, so I started with 2 panels of foundations paper sized 4×6″ and 8.25×3.25 inches. Since we are working with pastes today, I decided I would pull out my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat for easy cleanup. I placed a dollop each of the Vicki Boutin texture paste in the colors bubblegum, ice berry, and spearmint. These pastes are sold together in this set. They are a water soluble paste. Next I misted the pastes with some water using my distress sprayer. I like to spray just off to the side of the paste so I can slowly add more or less paste as needed.
Next I used a .75 inch brush to apply the pastes like a paint to my cardstock. On the 5×7 card I kept my blending in a single direction, but on the slimline card I applied the paste in a couple of directions to add some interest. I really like that you adjust the thickness of these with more or less water. I like the painted look and love that we can see the texture of the brush strokes.
For my sentiments, I used the HB2U sentiment die from Picket Fence Studios to cut out a few layers from white cardstock to layer together. I used a liquid glue to stack up my die cuts for extra dimension.
