Mixed Media – Let’s play with our supplies and see what happens

February 4, 2024

For today’s card project, I made a pair of mixed media butterfly cards.

The definition of mixed media projects is combining more than one medium to your project. Something as simple as stamping with ink and embossing powder would be a mixed media project. However, commonly we think of mixed media projects needing paints, pastes, inks, etc.

For today’s project, I combined some heat embossing, stenciling, paste and stamping to create a fun background. I then layered some simple die cuts and sentiments on top to finish the card. You can watch the entire process unfold here on my YouTube channel:

I have also included a list of items used in the project below in case you are wanting to craft along or check out specific items.

Stamps: Hero Arts Mixed Textures stamps

Dies: Hero Arts fancy dies – delicate butterfly

Inks: Pinkfresh studio premium dye ink cubes – chasing sunsets, fairy dust, rise and shine

Sentiments: Pinkfresh Studio Celebrate basic banners stamps and coordinating die

Pastes: Hero Arts Hero Paste in Gold and White

Tools: Catherine Pooler small blending brushes

Stencil: Butterfly Heart Stencil from Brutus Monroe

Paper: Vicki Boutin foundations paper
