Hello! Today I am sharing these super fun, one layered, foiled llama cards. I turned these llamas into a mix of birthday and Pride cards. June is pride month, and Happy Pride to anyone who is celebrating this month! For information on the products used and how I made these cards, keep on reading.
There is also a tutorial video that you can find on my YouTube Channel for this project. Click here to watch.
I had tons of fun making these super fun foiled llamas using Llama tell you stamps from Colorado Craft Company. I really like the general sentiment stamps “Llama just say” for the front of my card. This left me plenty of options to customize the rest of the sentiment on the inside of the card. I ended up stamping the happy birthday in most of my llama cards, as birthday cards are the ones that I tend to use the most. I also used some rainbow foil on a few of my llamas to wish some amazing people a happy pride month. I am thinking about maybe making a few more of these with the insides blank… to have on hand to customize them later when I need a specific type of card.
I began these cards by trimming down my heavyweight white card stock to 8.5×5.5 inches and scoring it at 4.25 along the longer side to make a side folding A2 card. I then pulled out my MISTI tool and stamped the llamas on the front of my cards using some black dye ink. Once I was done stamping the llama bodies, I moved onto the foiled glasses.
To create the foiled look on the llama’s glasses and on the sentiment, I first loaded my stamps into my MISTI tool. I then stamped these images using Minc Toner Ink. The toner ink is key in the foiling process and must be used for this technique to work. Anything that you stamp with the minc toner ink, will later adhere the foil. I used a brayer to apply the minc ink to my stamp.
If you are looking for more details on how I apply toner ink with a brayer, I would suggest that you also take a peek at this previous video that I made:
Once the stamping with the toner ink was finished, I layered on the foil over my card panel and ran my project through the carrier sheet for my minc machine. I peeled off the excess foil and was left with beautiful, shiny stamped images. I used a mix of gold deco foils and rainbow deco foils on my llama’s glasses and for the sentiments as well. I decided to turn my rainbow llamas into pride llamas to send to some amazing people celebrating pride month. For my gold llamas, I added a happy birthday inside to finish off the sentiment. At this point all that was left to do is stamp a sentiment inside my cards and fold my card bases with a Teflon bone folder.
